The European Research Council’s (ERC) Scientific Council is “overwhelmed” by researchers’ response to an open letter calling for EU heads of state and government to support European research funding.
The letter, signed by 42 Nobel laureates and five Fields medallists, was published in several major European papers this week. It calls on EU leaders to protect funding for Horizon 2020, the EU’s research and innovation programme. Decisions on the EU’s 2014-2020 budget are to be made at a summit on 22-23 November.
