Innovation to support the environment and lower carbon emissions should become part of all other kinds of innovation, rather than being handled and funded separately, said Janez Potocnik, the environment commissioner.
During a panel discussion on eco-innovation in Brussels, Potocnik said that immersing the development of sustainable and low-emission technologies would be crucial to get more spending in this area. He said that boosting European knowledge in this field would be crucial to international competitiveness.
