Commission team wins prize for non-animal test methods

A team from the European Commission’s Joint Research Council has won the first-ever Lush science prize for research into non-animal product safety testing.

The £50,000 (€62,000) prize, sponsored by the cosmetics company Lush and Ethical Consumer magazine, was awarded to the team for their work on using genetics and computer science to predict chemical toxicity without resorting to animal testing.
