A German-Jordanian university in Madaba near Amman has opened its doors to Jordanian and German students.
The university, modelled on German applied science universities, will receive about €1.3 million a year from the German government, according to the German research ministry. Construction of the campus, which so far has six buildings containing offices, lecture theatres and laboratories, has cost €6 million, provided through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
