Scientists join call to save Erasmus

A diverse group of individuals, including researchers, sports stars and artists, have published an open letter asking European leaders to protect the Erasmus exchange programme in ongoing budget negotiations.

The plea follows an announcement by the Commission on 23 October that Erasmus will need an additional €90 million to meet commitments in 2012, and is at risk of having to reduce the number of places or levels of grants available.
