Tonio Borg has been appointed as the EU’s commissioner for health and social policy. The European Council approved Borg’s nomination last week, following the European Parliament’s approval. However, MEPs representing the green, liberal, and left-wing parties were against Borg’s nomination because of his conservative views on abortion and homosexuality.
