EU improves innovation performance slowly but surely

The EU is slowly improving its innovation performance and catching up with its global competitors, says the European Commission’s Innovation Scoreboard.

Within the EU, the report says, there continues to be a steady convergence, where less innovative countries such as Bulgaria grow faster than more innovative ones such as Sweden. A similar phenomenon can be observed at the global level: China catches up with the EU, while the EU itself slowly closes its innovation gap with Japan and the US.
