Hollande taken to task by Montpellier leader

Anne Fraïsse, president of Montpellier 3 University, has written to François Hollande, the Socialist Party presidential candidate, to express her “surprise and anger” about his plans for higher education and research, reports Libération.

The newspaper’s blog, Science 2, has published a letter from Fraïsse, in which she takes Hollande to task for his approach to higher education, and specifically the law on the freedom and responsibilities of universities (LRU) introduced by President Nicolas Sarkozy’s government in 2007, marking the start of wide-reaching reforms.
