The European Commission has opened a public consultation to update the General Block Exemption Regulation, which govern financial aid to R&D.
The GBER defines exceptions to EU rules that require national governments to notify the EU when they give financial aid to industry. For example, aid for research and innovation or environment protection is exempt from the notification requirements.
