Punk peer review

Attendees at an EU workshop on the future of research and innovation, held last week at the Free University in Berlin, were kept awake at night by a punk band, calling themselves the DDR Allstars, who elected to perform outdoors, right next to the sleeping quarters. Most of their furious, if catchy, protest songs were rendered in German. But one had an angry chorus, sung, appropriately enough, in the English language: “Publish or perish; APPLY OR DIE!”
