José Ignacio Fernández Vera has been appointed director of the government-funded Spanish foundation for science and technology (Fecyt).
Fernández Vera was previously working as parliamentary advisor for science and innovation in the cabinet of the Luis de Guindos, conservative Minister of Economy and Competitiveness. He stated that he aimed to make the foundation more transparent and efficient, and “useful for the Spanish science system”.
