Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, has proposed dividing the headquarters of the unitary patent court between Paris and London, AFP reports.
EU and diplomatic sources reportedly said on 15 June that Van Rompuy had come up with a “very European” plan for the court’s headquarters to be based in one country, with a branch office and support functions in the other. If London agrees, a final decision could be made on the sidelines of a summit for EU heads of state on 28 and 29 June.
