Swiss science foundation nominates top female scientists

The Swiss National Science Foundation has for the first time nominated female scientists for inclusion in the AcademiaNet online database.

Created by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the German science magazine Spektrum der Wissenschaft in 2010, AcademiaNet compiles the profiles of “outstanding women researchers” in German-speaking countries in a bid to fill more management positions and posts on scientific boards with women.

Researchers may not enter themselves in the database. Instead, AcademiaNet works with partner organisations, such as the European Research Council, the Max Planck Society in Germany, or the European Molecular Biology Organisation, who propose scientists for inclusion in the list.

The SNSF joined AcademiaNet last year.
