The European Investment Bank has granted a €350-million loan to Italian automotive company Fiat Industrial to fund research on carbon emissions and energy efficiency.
The agreement was signed in Turin, Italy, on 5 July by Dario Scannapieco, the EIB’s vice-president for Italy and Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Industrial’s chairman. It will will provide funding for R&D activities in several of the company’s centres in Italy (83 per cent of the loan), Germany (8 per cent) and Switzerland (9 per cent).
