London gets slice of European patent court, as EU patent row continues

EU leaders have decided to locate the Unitary Patent Court’s central division in Paris—but with some areas of patent activity hived off to London and Munich.

The compromise solution that the main seat will be based in Paris, but with drug patents dealt with in London and many engineering ones in Munich, was agreed by EU heads of state and government at a European Council meeting in Brussels on 29 June.
