The Volkswagen Foundation, a philanthropic research funder, has made nearly €58 million available for university research in Lower Saxony.
The money is intended to improve the competitiveness and research profiles of local universities, the foundation said in a statement. The Niedersachsen Vorab (Lower Saxony First) initiative funds research projects at universities for three years with up to €6m per project.
