The European Science Foundation (ESF) announced this week that it is taking steps to scale back its activities, as the one-year old organisation Science Europe ramps up its work on influencing EU research policy.
The two organisations, both of which represent national funding agencies and research-performing agencies, held general assemblies on 22-23 November. The ESF decided on a plan for the next few years, during which it expects to lose some of its 78 member organisations.
