EU and industry fund clinical trials training for Africa

Europe’s pharma industry will work with African and European countries to create a funding initiative for research fellowships to boost clinical trials in Africa.

Efpia, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations, signed a deal with the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) on 24 January. The fellowships will fund researchers from sub-Saharan Africa to spend up to two years within a European pharmaceutical company to learn about clinical trials. The European Commission is providing part of the funding.
