Ireland pledges to fix EIT

Getting an agreement on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology is one of the goals of the Irish presidency of the Council of Ministers, Ireland’s education minister Ruairi Quinn said on 2 January. The Commission has proposed €3.2 billion in funding for the EIT from the Horizon 2020 budget­—far more than the €309 million in EU funding that the Budapest-based EIT has received since its launch in 2008.
