MEPs request inquiry following Dalli departure

Green MEPs have proposed that the European Parliament should establish a special committee to investigate the events surrounding the resignation of former commissioner for health John Dalli.

According to MEPs, an inquiry committee is needed to examine the relationship of the European Commission with tobacco lobbyists following an unsatisfactory response to questions surrounding Dalli’s resignation. The committee could also look at potential lobbying infringements within EU institutions, MEPs said.
