Public needs to know where underfunding will bite, say MEPs

MEPs have urged the European Commission to make a stronger public case that what they see as underfunding of Horizon 2020 could threaten Europe’s future. Rapporteur Teresa Riera Madurell asked the Commission to provide information on how cuts to the budget for Horizon 2020 would damage the programme and its impact on competitiveness, growth and job creation. Research commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn said that the information would be prepared.
