Spain risks falling further behind in research

Cuts to state spending on research and innovation in Spain are threatening the country’s competitiveness and driving its researchers away, Reuters reported today (16 January).

The article states that the Spanish government is set to cut its research and innovation budget by 7 per cent in 2013, on top of a 25 per cent cut in 2012. These cuts are forcing researchers to go find work abroad.
