EU clinical trials need mandatory gender balance, say doctors

The European Society of Cardiology wants policymakers to amend a planned update to the EU Clinical Trials Directive to include rules enabling the recruitment of more women into clinical studies. In a statement published on 13 February, the ESC says the Commission’s proposals should be revised to include rules to increase the participation of women in trials, and to analyse results to identify gender differences in treatment effects.
