Finland and Iceland top OECD researchers ranking

The five Nordic countries have the world’s highest proportion of researchers in their workforce, according to an OECD ranking based on data collected in 2010. Finland and Iceland came top, with 17 researchers per 1,000 employees. Denmark was ranked the third-highest European nation, followed by Sweden and Norway. The average across all 27 EU countries was seven researchers per 1,000 workers.
