Horizon 2020 could receive €69bn as scientists’ pleas ignored

European heads of government agreed a Horizon 2020 research budget for 2014-20 of around €69 billion (£59bn) at a European Union Council summit on 7 and 8 February.

Horizon 2020 lost out in the final budget negotiations, despite widespread calls from the scientific lobby to commit at least €80bn to the programme.
