Initiative aims to offer licensed access to digital resources

The European Commission is bringing together creators and users of digital information to develop a process for allowing controlled access to a wide range of online resources.

The Licences for Europe initiative, launched on 4 February by digital agenda commissioner Neelie Kroes, draws together representatives from the creative industries. These experts are to develop a new system of copyright protection for online materials that encourages those wanting legitimate access.
