Space lab celebrates 5th anniversary

Columbus, the European research laboratory at the International Space Station, celebrated its fifth anniversary on 13 February.

In that time, the laboratory has hosted 110 experiments involving around 500 scientists, the European Space Agency said. The Columbus module went into operation in 2008, specialising on research into material sciences, radiation physics, astrobiology and the Sun.
