Commission to make life easier for SMEs

The European Commission has said it will renew efforts to ease the regulatory burden on small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe and to increase the participation of small companies in Horizon 2020. This follows the results of a consultation asking SMEs to identify the areas of EU law that are most problematic. Among the results were EU legislation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals, and data protection laws. The Commission has also said it will include more funding for SME research under Horizon 2020.
