The Liberal group in the European Parliament has said it will demand more money for competitiveness programmes, including Horizon 2020, in negotiations on the overall EU budget for 2014-20. The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe said it will not contest the total amount of the budget proposed by the Council of Ministers, but will insist on changes to the allocations given to sections such as competitiveness, cohesion and agriculture.
