Austrian physicist Anton Zeilinger was elected president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), the country's learned society and largest research-performing organisation.
Elected on 15 March, Zeilinger will take over from Helmut Denk on 1 July. His term will focus on the ongoing academy’s reform and on increasing the ÖAW’s involvement in public debates in areas such as energy efficiency, land planning or pension systems, Zeilinger said in a statement.
