Endocrine disruptors should be defined as substances that cause a harmful effect, according to a scientific advisory group led by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
This conclusion by the Endocrine Disrupters Expert Advisory Group is in agreement with the opinion published last month by the European Food Safety Agency, which recommended that legislation on endocrine disruptors should be tightened. The group’s opinion is also consistent with the definition of endocrine disruptors accepted by the World Health Organisation.
