Bringing a Swiss research foundation into focus
For researchers with ideas for projects a little different from the norm, Velux Stiftung might provide a ray of light. The Swiss funder, founded by the inventor of Velux windows, awards grants of CHF50,000 to CHF100,000 (€45,000 to €90,000) annually for projects lasting up to four years. It asks applicants to explain why their project is not eligible for funding by other sources.
Velux Stiftung gives grants in three areas: ophthalmology, daylight research and healthy ageing. Grants are awarded on an annual basis, with applications in ophthalmology due by 31 May and those in the other two categories due by 30 September.
