European heads of state have officially signed off a proposal to fill remaining gaps in the 2013 EU budget through an extra cash injection.
In a statement dated 30 October, the European Council said its members had approved two draft amending budgets, one of which will cover outstanding payments by increasing the budget by €3.9 billion.
The Council’s formal position follows an agreement reached by the Permanent Representatives Committee, a group of EU ambassadors, on 14 October.
