Research agency takes a risk

France’s National Research Agency is to support risky research projects under a programme to be introduced next year.

The OH Risque programme will back innovative research for which the risk of failure is high but which has the potential to lead to major breakthroughs.

The programme is for fundamental or applied research projects of two years’ duration or less, aimed at establishing proofs of concept in emerging fields.

The ANR is yet to announce how much money will be put into the programme.
