Hollande pledges ‘real autonomy’ for universities

François Hollande, the socialist party’s candidate for this year’s presidential elections, says that he would make universities truly autonomous if voted into power.

Hollande has published a 60-point plan for his presidency, including pledges to revise the 2007 law on the freedom and responsibilities of universities and to introduce a “more collegiate and democratic” university governance structure.
