Government presents collider plan to senate

The French government has presented a bill to the senate setting out its plan to support the construction of the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Germany.

The FAIR project is an international collaboration between 10 countries, including Germany, India, Russia, Spain and Sweden, that will see an antiproton and ion collider constructed at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt.

The bill details France’s €27 million commitment to the project, but leaves the door open for negotiations on potential upgrades to the facility.
