France's national research centre, the CNRS, has set up a laboratory for research into human protection and disaster response in Fukushima, Japan.
The lab was launched on 3 October, more than two years after the disaster at Fukushima’s nuclear power plant. It will bring together the ministry of foreign affairs and Lille’s science and technology university in France, and Japan’s Fukushima University and Doshisha University.
The focus will be socioeconomic research, epistemology and analysis of public policy. French and Japanese researchers in the humanities, social sciences, engineering, health sciences and agronomy will be involved.
