France was the country with the third-highest number of companies listed in Thomson Reuters' latest Top 100 Global Innovators list and was the best performer in Europe, repeating its 2012 performance.
The list, published on 7 October, featured 45 companies from the United States, 28 from Japan and 12 from France. Results for all three countries were similar in 2012. The other European countries in the list were Switzerland with four companies, Germany with three, Sweden with two and the Netherlands with one.
The French organisations included telecom company Alcatel-Lucent, cosmetics firm L’Oréal and the national centre for scientific research, the CNRS.
