France Université Numérique, France’s portal for massive open online courses, is now open for business.
After the portal was launched on 2 October, courses opened for registration on 28 October. According to a government statement, more than 12,000 people have already signed up for the 25 courses being offered so far, which are due to begin in January 2014.
The courses available at present cover scientific humanities, fundamentals of statistics, the first world war, digital manufacturing, and other topics. They are being offered by several different French universities.
