The national research agencies of Switzerland and France have agreed to join forces for cross-border research projects by implementing a single evaluation procedure.
Under the agreement between the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the French National Research Agency (ANR), announced on 9 October, projects involving institutions in both countries will be evaluated by only one of the two agencies. Based on the outcome of the decision, the two agencies will then finance the part of the project taking place in their own country.
The agreement will be in place for two years. The agencies will take turns to be the lead agency that evaluates proposals, with the SNSF conducting evaluations in 2014.
