Fioraso encourages universities to become more international

France must make more effort to attract international students and researchers from emerging economies such as Brazil, India and China, research and higher education minister Geneviève Fioraso has said.

In a speech in Paris on 16 April, Fioraso said that focusing on BRIC nations and reinforcing ties in Africa would help to boost France’s performance.

The minister argued that France could not afford to continue to slide down the rankings, while the United States and other Anglophone countries launch ambitious plans to draw in students from abroad.
