Pasteur opens up to undergrads

France's Institut Pasteur has joined an international programme aimed at giving undergraduates some research experience.

The institute joined the Amgen Scholars programme on 12 November, becoming the first French institute to do so and joining four other European institutes as well as 12 in the United States and Japan.

From summer 2015, the Institut Pasteur will welcome research students for 2 months at a time in some of its 100 research units. Christian Bréchot, the institute’s director, said: “Our research teams will offer students internships and mentoring. We hope the practical experience will encourage them to follow scientific careers.”
