France confident it can attract top climate scientists

The French government is pressing ahead with €30 million for a scheme to attract overseas climate researchers to the country.

In a statement on 19 June, the government said that it hoped to attract about 50 researchers to France under the scheme, which was created in response to the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris climate change agreement.

The announcement follows the establishment of a website, called Make Our Planet Great Again. It was created on 8 June to act as a portal for researchers and entrepreneurs looking to move to France.
