The Paris climate change agreement remains “irreversible” and will be implemented with or without the United States, French president Emmanuel Macron has said.
Speaking after US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the COP21 Paris deal on the grounds that it is bad for his country, Macron said: “We will not, under any circumstances renegotiate a less ambitious deal.”
Macron said that Trump was making an error, adding that he respected the choice but regretted that it had been made.
