Macron sketches out €10bn innovation fund

French president Emmanuel Macron has announced the creation of a €10-billion fund for investment in innovation, which will be run by the public investment bank Bpifrance.

Macron announced the initiative during a speech at a conference for technology startups in Paris on 15 June, but did not give further details.

He said the initiative was borne of his desire “to press on and make innovation easier, to give more visibility to innovation finance in France”, but then moved on to discuss other matters.
