French president Emmanuel Macron has thrown his weight behind a global environment pact intended to solidify the Paris climate change agreement.
Macron endorsed a draft copy of the pact at a meeting of 80 international climate change experts in Paris on 24 June and said he would work to ensure that the document was put before the UN general assembly in September.
The draft pact contains 26 articles including the right to live in environmentally sound conditions and to compensation for environmental damage.
