The French government has selected the first two of 12 planned DNA sequencing centres that it hopes will boost research and the uptake of genomic medicine in the country.
Plans for the two centres were announced by prime minister Édouard Philippe at a press conference on 17 July.
Both centres will focus on DNA sequencing in cancer. The Seqoia project will be based in Paris and will be run by AP-HP, an association of 39 university hospitals in the Paris region, the Curie Institute, the IGR cancer research centre and the Imagine institute for genetic diseases.
