Head of France’s national research agency quits

Michael Matlosz, the president of the ANR, France’s national research agency, has stepped down after months of growing discontent from the agency’s evaluation panels.

On 18 July, the French higher education and research ministry announced that Matlosz had handed in his resignation and that he would step down on 21 July.

Matlosz, who has led the ANR since 2014, will continue to work for the ministry on a report “evaluating different modes of public finance for research” to be delivered in February, the statement said.
