No boost in ANR success rates despite budget top-up

The success rate for applications to the major responsive-mode streams of the ANR, France’s national research agency, was 12.6 per cent in 2017, about the same as the year before.

The ANR received 7,260 applications to this year’s call, an increase of 10 per cent from 2016, it said in a statement on 13 July.

A total of 914 proposals were funded under the three main streams of its responsive-mode programme in 2017, up from 801 last year. However, due to the increase in the number of applications, the success rate only increased from 12.5 per cent to 12.6 per cent.
