Ten translational medical research projects joining hospital research units, universities and businesses will share €74.5 million as part of France's PIA investment scheme.
On average, six public research units and three companies were involved in each winning bid, the government said in a statement on 27 July. The 10 winners were chosen from 52 applications.
A project led by the Institut Gustave Roussy cancer research centre just south of Paris won the most funding, netting €9.3m. The project, called MyProbe, will work on breast cancer diagnostics aimed at determining which patients are at highest risk of relapse after initially successful treatment.
